Think from your user point of view. How easy to understand the gameplay and what would intrigue the player. Over- or under-designed menus and interfaces would turn off the player, keep things simple and intuitive. Great user experience (UX) is incredibly important to enjoyable gameplay. - Hooks
Find your game’s hook; it could be the story, characters, or aesthetics. These hooks would help you to retain game players. It will also be the first thing that makes your potential players turn their heads and keep them playing. - Dynamic
You need to give “life” to your game. Constraints, rewards, and success criteria is a must in a successful game. With constraints, it means you need to give some limitations on the gameplay, something that players can and can’t do. Keep it relevant and coherent with the whole game. Rewards could be in the form of money, rank, status, items, etc. This will fulfill the player's craving, but remember to keep it balanced. Success criteria must be clear to establish the player's expectations. There should be certain criteria for knowing if the objectives met. - FUN
Yes, a literal fun. Never forget the purpose of people playing games is to have fun. It would be best if you put a sense of fun in your game. It could be through memorable characters, intriguing flow, or challenging obstacles. Focus on balancing the challenges and the player's abilities.
